I’m not going to rehash the whole fucking stupid issue, because it honestly just makes me want to kick a puppy. In short, raging moron city council member Halbert “Struck down” the idea of a skatepark in the Glenview area:

But Councilwoman Wanda Halbert, who represents the district that includes the park, objected to the project in December, and parks officials told skate-park supporters last week that they would have to find a new location for the facility.

“In a tough economic time for a lot of families … now is not the time to entertain a skate park, especially in a historic neighborhood,” said Halbert in a Dec. 17 e-mail to parks director Cindy Buchanan.

“We must have things such as utility payment assistance programs for the working poor,” said Halbert. “After we have strengthened job and economic power among our constituents, then we need to talk about a skate park.”

Halbert said Wednesday that she was baffled by the commotion over her decision to oppose the skate park.

“Black people feel like when other folks want something, they just do it,” said Halbert. “If you try to buck what they are doing, or don’t understand it, they get mad.”

I sat here for the better part of half an hour trying to figure out exactly how to address a position that’s so stupid it’s nearly incomprehensible. I considered picking her response apart, line by line. I considered a long winded diatribe as to how dumb shit like this is the reason people of every race, creed, and color are clawing their way out of Memphis at any cost. I considered fighting my microwave, as it seemed to make as much sense as what I just read. In the end, I feel my sentiments are best expressed like this:
