More GLBT ordinance stuff…
Apparently Smart City Memphis has never talked to a southern baptist…
As a result of the kind of behavior that took place outside the county building downtown and the anti-gay vitriol spewed by these Christian leaders, there is a misperception by the news media that somehow these views represent Christianity and that these people are typical of our faith. The truth is they are uniformly 180 degrees from what our faith means to us.
That’s the striking irony of this discussion. Commissioner Bunker says he opposes the anti-discrimination ordinance because of his religious beliefs, because of his sense of morality and because of his commitment to a life of faith.
Funny, that’s the same reasons that lead us to support the ordinance.
Again, this is gonna offend some people, but in all honesty, the majority of Christians in general, and southern baptists in particular, are the opposite of tolerant. Let’s stop fucking around and call a spade a spade. Gay rights are largely opposed by religious groups.
It’s time we tell them to shut the fuck up.
Your religion is your business, even though I think you’re dumb for talking to a magic jewish zombie in the sky. Kindly keep your ideals out of my government. I want no part in your false morality.
Also, I’m pretty sure gay isn’t contagious. Calm down.
