Upgrade time, woot!
I noticed how cheap laptop ram has gotten and decided to order an upgrade. I picked up 2GB from NewEgg.com for $45 shipped, stuck it in and fired it back up. Much faster load time for sure. Definately a worthy upgrade.

So, I’ve been kinda MIA because I made the mistake of deciding to update my old desktop with a fresh XP install. I wrestled with BIOS versions, USB keyboard issues, and a million other things, but I finally got it updated with the latest BIOS and a version of XP Pro SP3 stripped down with nLite.
SP3 seems to boot a lot faster, but that could be because my XP install was ~3.5 years old, the format likely helped a lot too. I’m about to install Ubuntu as well, I already have on my laptop and it seems ok, a little complicated for simple shit, but very customizable, so I’ll give it a shot.
In local news, pay attention to West Memphis 3 news, it’s about to start developing.
Not much posting activity lately because I’m trying to salvage my old Dell desktop, do a fresh XP install, and add a partition to dual boot linux. I’ll update with pretty screenshots and hows to’s and links too cool stuff soon. Either that or I’ll update with pictures of my computer with 20 rounds of 9mm hollowpoint in it. Either way, it will be entertaining.
I’ve spent the last day and a half wondering why my Microsoft USB keyboard wouldn’t work properly in BIOS. Yes, legacy support was enabled. It would work to enter bios, then it would work for one more keypress, then it would no longer respond to anything. The final solution: remove microsoft’s driver’s and just use the base HID drivers. Works perfectly now.
I was quoted $32.99, which is completely different from the $23.99 referenced here or the $37.99 reference on their website. They also told me that the $19.99 768/128 package was no longer available. I’m supposed to have the CD by Saturday, we’ll see what goes down…
I hope ATT wireless is serious about “unlimited” on their data plans.
I do a lot of mobile browsing at work, use it to PUSH one email account and access a bunch of others via IMAP, and frequently email attachments and stuff so I can just sync it with a different computer when I need the attachment. Fuck it, I actually pay for the $40 internet package, they shouldn’t bitch ![]()
I’m still trying to find a gmail workaround for postie on domains that don’t have SMTP php access, and I was going to post on the site and saw this. Hope it gets it worked out, that’s a cool program.
And yeah, domain change, down all weekend, etc. I’ll update in a few, but I’m making food, as I’ve been staring at code all day instead of eating ![]()
As I bitching about here, I can’t find a WM6 Pro phone with a decent camera. I’m thinking of maybe getting a second phone and just swapping sim cards when I go out.
I basically have it narrowed down to theĀ Sony-Ericsson K790a or the Nokia N73
. Both have nice cameras, the Sony has a better flash and the Nokia has a better operating system. Tough call, maybe I’ll just wait on the Sony X1
