Sooner or later I find myself on Steve’s Nude Memphis Blog. I read over it, generally feel a little dumber for my trouble, and move on, but hey, there’s nothing wrong with someone having a differing opinion.

In the course of my random ventures there, however, I’ve noticed an overarching theme. Every single post, as far as I can tell, is about domestic violence, rape, or how woman are persecuting men. At first I wrote it off as venting. I mean, who hasn’t been through a bad breakup and felt a little hostile toward the fairer sex for a bit? I figured it was the male equivalent of “OMGz I am SOOO done with men forever!”.

But it never stops.

Ever.

I was reminded of this recently when my dad was talking about reading random Memphis Blogs, and after mentioning some blogs he enjoyed, said “There’s also a lot of nutjobs, like that nude guy. What’s wrong with THAT guy?”.

I can’t really blame him for coming to that conclusion. Let’s go with the latest post. Who the fuck is in a bar with three female friends and decides it’s a good time to talk about rape statistics? Then there’s defending Roman Polanksi’s rape of a 13 year old as people getting mad about a guy “Fucking a chick who’s too hot for him”. Or the fixation on emasculation seen here. And here. And here.  Or we can look at the fact that he makes a point to highlight any story involving women kicking men in the dick. Like this. And this. And this. And…well, you get the idea, it’s pretty fucking creepy.

I think you get the (insanely repetitive, disturbing) point by now, but no one seems to have ever mentioned it. I’m a heterosexual, twentysomething male, and I just don’t feel this oppression by females. I don’t feel that women are out to get me. While there are certainly differences in the sexes, I don’t feel this animosity he seems to. Am I missing something? Is that blog a parody blog that I’m too dense to have picked up on? Do most men feel this way? Are my father and I in some minority of men that seem to think his perspective is fucking nuts? Am I being trolled?

I was reading the most recent issue of Downtowner and saw an ad for Second Street Shoppers that included a website. Pretty basic, but at least they have hours of operation up and a handful of pictures. I used to go there and attempt to buy them out of Newcastle pretty often when I lived closer. I haven’t been by there in a while since I moved a bit further away, but I’m sure I’ll be back by when the weather warms up. Very nice guys and they carry most of the basics. Their food is pretty damn good too. It’s secondstreetshoppers.com.

I plan on going out a little this week, I should have some stuff to report.

Also, The Travel Channel ran the episode of Man Vs. Food from Memphis. It featured the Sasquatch Burger from Bigfoot Lodge, now Kooky Canuck. They also hit Rendezvous and Gus’ Fried Chicken. Pretty good episode. I was poking around on the man vs. food page on the travel channel’s site, and found an interview with the host, Adam Richman. This part caught my attention:

Everything else. Nah, I mean they’re all tough to some degree. Some because I had a full day of shooting and eating the day prior, others because of what the challenge entails. The Juan in a Million Challenge in Austin and the Sasquatch Burger in Memphis were pretty gnarly, though.

What did he say that was wrong? Obama is a muslim, he didn’t participate in the national day of prayer, want’s to rename the Christmas tree to Holiday tree. But, he has a muslim emam in the whitehouse for ramadan. The guy is a muslim plain and simple.

Well, that’s his opinion.But, our President is muslim. The people that voted him in, are idiots, that will be proven wrong about Barrack Obama Hussein…Everyone read that name out loud..That’s the name of our U.S.A President…And yes, he hates Snoopy!!!

Thank you for speaking the truth. So far our president is doing everything possible to turn our nation into a socialist nation. He is also doing everything he can to turn the 911 hijackers loose. Again thanks for speaking up Mayor.

I’m fairly certain the 9/11 hijackers are dead. Something about a plane crash. Just sayin…

What happened to the children coming first? I am sure there was another time available for the President’s speech. After all, the speech and his campaign promises were in conflict. Military families have been torn apart for too long

Why should the man apologize or try to defend his comments about Obama?He happens to be a mayor who does not care for our new Muslim president,like many others so what?Last I heard this was still a free country,which is suppose to have freedom of speech (won’t be for long).Although I’m a democratic person,I don’t think that a person that was not born and raised in America should be should be president.I don’t think that anyone that is Muslim should be president.Obama has hidden agendas that are really going to surprise some of his supporters in years to come.Hilary Clinton was the obvious choice for president.She didn’t didn’t get it because she was a woman and he got it because he was half African American.It is astonishing that anyone would vote for a person with a Muslim background to run this country after 9/11.

Ok, I have to stop now, I’m getting dumber. I have lost all faith in humanity.
