The Grand Opening will be Trolley Night September 30th. The Cuisine will be southern inspired diner fare with my fine dining twists and interpretations. Lunch 11 to 2:30 Tuesday through Friday. Dinner 5 to 10:00 weeknights Monday through Saturday, 5 to 11 Friday and Saturday. Closed Sunday and Monday Day. I see no one is open Monday night down here so i want to offer all the people I have seen pulling on doors and looking in windows a opportunity to dine somewhere. The price point at lunch will from $6.00 to $11.00 range most items right at $8.00 with a few sandwiches, meat & 3 options and healthy salads. Dinner will be more on the elegant side of diner style cuisine but with a price point of $16.00 dollars to $22.00. House made desserts. We will have a wine and beer permit in the month to come.

Now, I think my track record of blatant (ok, maybe sometimes I’m an asshole) honesty speaks for itself, but I’ll be blunt; I don’t suggest you go to Rizzo’s because I like Michael Patrick (I do). I don’t suggest you go there because he’s been the head chef of the best restaurants in Memphis (he has), and I don’t suggest you go there because it will be the next “Hot new place” (it will).

I suggest you go eat there because Chef Patrick has, in recent memory, always worked for someone else. He’s always been somewhat limited by the vision and theme of someone else. He’s had to craft a menu to fit the theme of someone else’s restaurant, and he’s made some fucking amazing food in spite of those limitations. Now he has none of those constraints. It’s his vision, his menu, his food, as he wants it to be, without any meddling from anyone else.

If that’s not worth trying, I don’t know what is.

In short, they play classic and cult classic movies on Thursday and/or Friday during the summer.

The Majestic Grill is usually really popular before/after shows btw, so check that out if you decide to hit up a show. I know I will.

I mean, it’s santa clad in a bikini and combat boots. Someone out there has to be pretending to be super offended enough for a short sound clip on the local news, no?

I’m not trying to get WellWorx in trouble for the crime of making a hilarious christmas display, just wondering where all the outraged citizens are.

I have a feeling that the total amount of complaints about the Union Avenue billboard and the WellWorx display combined amounts to fuck all. The whole thing seems to be manufactured outrage in the interest of filling time and getting morons worked up.

I started poking around and noticed that absolutely no one has donated to Downtown Elementary. Their page can be found here.

I say we change that. I ordered the book on amazon, so they’re getting my $15 from that,  and I decided to get the ball rolling now by throwing in another $25 of my own.

As much as I bitch about stupid people, the least I can do is contribute to the cause of making future generations a little less stupid. I implore you to do the same, if only to keep me from climbing a tall building with a powerful rifle.

Had a handful of cool shots of Memphis, but that was basically the only thing that entertained me about it. The lead actor is actually decent, but the character is just a cliche. The rooftop shots that are obviously New Orleans and not Memphis were insulting. The “Police Station” being a tiny little closet was just silly. I understand it’s a fictional show, but it actually showed a shot of 201 Poplar in the opening sequence.

I suppose it passes for mindless entertainment, but the fact that it’s not shot in Memphis basically kills it for me.

Pics pretty much tell you everything you need to know. Their birthday parties are always a good time.

Summer is definitely coming back. Funny how you forget exactly how oppressively hot it is.

Also, I’m gonna try to capture as many of the insanely stupid cars around memphis when I can and post it. It likely won’t be “o the day”, but it sounds cool, so I’m going with it. First lesson learned, try to find them in daylight.
