Thank you Bank of America.

First, I would like to say it’s great that the atm door is locked by a cardreader that requires you to swipe your debit card, and doesn’t fucking work.

Also, I’d like to thank you for posting a sign that says “All deposits after 3pm will post the next business day” but not including “unless you make your ATM deposit after some undefined point in time at which we collect the day’s deposits, so don’t deposit all of your cash other than $20, because the next day you will be wondering why you have $9 in checking despite depositing close to $1000 in cash the previous night”

Nothing better than having to call your parents and borrow some cash when you’re 26 years old.

Memphis quits The First 48

The First 48 on A & E network

The City of Memphis and A & E network’s The First 48 have decided to call it quits.

Audiences around the country have grown to love Memphis homicide detectives featured on the real life crime drama.

Executive producer Laura Fleury says that after several years spotlighting crime investigations in Memphis, the city suddenly decided to suspend their agreement with the A & E network.

“I really have no idea. I mean the people of Memphis seem to love it,” said Fleury.

Fleury says Memphis is one of the favorite featured cities with The First 48 audience members nationwide. But sources within the Memphis Police Department say homicide detectives need a break.

City leaders like council member Wanda Halbert say Memphis needs a break from the negative publicity. Though she appreciates the exposure to MPD’s diligent detective work, Halbert worries about the popular program’s effect on would-be visitors to the Bluff City.

“Memphis is not unlike any other urban city where we have our challenges, but it’s certainly a great place to live, and we want to advocate that to others and encourage them to visit our city,” said Halbert.

Producers say the show has had a positive impact by showcasing the diligent work of detectives and how they interact with the community to solve cases. They say the community is much more motivated to come forward and provide information as a result of the program.

“We love filming in Memphis for a lot of reasons, one because they are a terrific police department very dedicated to solving their cases,” said Fleury.

Show producers say the city is still in discussions with the network, and they hope to resume their working relationship with the Memphis Police Department in the future.

I just sent my feelings to memphispolice.org:

I applaud the Memphis Police Department’s decision to stop working with A&E on the documentary show The First 48. I wouldn’t want you to break the protocol of ignoring the crime problem in Memphis as opposed to actually addressing it.

100 calorie packs of brownies = lol

May 14, 2008 By: Sig Category: Uncategorized No Comments →

I was walking through Schnuck’s on Union buying stuff for dinner and decided I needed some kind of chocolate. I don’t eat a lot of sweets, but I do like having something every once in a while with a glass of milk.

Anyway, I spotted some brownie bites and threw them in the cart. I got home, ate dinner, had a cigarette, and decided I would try the brownie bites with a glass of milk. It was at this point that I noticed the brownie bites were “100 Calorie Packs”. Uh-oh.

I break the package open and get roughly 6 of these:

Tasty, but the “100 Calorie Packs” have to be the biggest scam ever.

“Hey there fatty mcbutterpants! Can’t control your brownie intake? Here, here’s 1/10 of the product for the same price so you know when to stop feeding!”

Random Bitching: Trash Chutes

May 14, 2008 By: Sig Category: Uncategorized No Comments →

Why are all apartment trash chutes designed with an opening the size of a pack of cigarettes and a 40# return spring, forcing you to wedge your body between the filth covered sharp metal door and the filth covered cigarette pack-sized opening while you cram your bag down the tiny hole?

Upgrade time, woot!

I noticed how cheap laptop ram has gotten and decided to order an upgrade. I picked up 2GB from NewEgg.com for $45 shipped, stuck it in and fired it back up. Much faster load time for sure. Definately a worthy upgrade.

I’ve officially found my epitaph, hopefully many years before I need it…

Now he has departed from this strange world a little ahead of me. That means nothing. People like us, who believe in physics, know that the distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.

I can’t think of a better eternal (irony intended) representative than Einstein.

Local man nearly drowns while chasing baseball

Updated: May 12, 2008 09:36 PM

A Mid-South man’s love for baseball recently nearly cost him his life.  Anthony Cardona stopped breathing for more than two minutes after running into trouble while trying to retreive a special ball.

Cardona got into trouble on May 4th, when his nephew walked up to the plat and hit a home run.  The ball went into a nearby pond.  Cardona wanted to fish the ball out and keep it as a souvenier.

There’s was just one problem: Cardona can’t swim.  He quickly went under, in serious danger of drowing.

“He was solid gray, with no life in him, period,” coach Michael Sharp said.  “In my opinion, he was dead.”

Sharpt and Robert Necaise were coaching the team Cardona’s newphew was playing on, but left the dugout to help administer CPR on him.  Meanwhile, the players looked on.

“It shook them up a bit,” Necaise said.  “We’re trying to teach them life.  Be prepared for everything that comes your way.”

Medics quickly arrived to stabalize Cardona, who is currently recovering at a hospital in Southaven.

“He’s a very strong person,” Heather Cardona said. “I know he’s a fighter.”

Beyond the hits and runs, wins and losses, the coaches said the incident seemed to teach their players another lesson- help your fellow man in need.  It was a lesson the players witnessed first-hand.

Are you kidding? This retard, presumably aware of his inability to swim, jumped into a pond…for a baseball? For a baseball from a Church League game? I mean, I understand the sentiment, it would have been cool for his nephew, but is it really worth risking your life over? Seriously? And why did they revive him? Do we need people like this procreating?

Holy fuck, the guy on WREG 3 just said people ate their babies before jesus came along.
